To fund the K9 program, the department relies solely on donations. Dolly initially cost over $10,000, however, she was purchased by Sargent May, who offset the cost through several avenues. She is originally from Czechoslovakia, but was purchased through Pine Grove Kennels in Meigs County, where she also completes a 16 hour monthly training. MARS Pet Care contributes to keep Dolly’s costs of care low by donating one bag of food per month, Masterson’s Veterinary Clinic in Somerset sees the dogs at a discounted cost, and equipment, including the K9 vehicle, were donated by other agencies- resulting in no cost to the village.
